Our mission is to support girls in rising to their full potential by having equal access to education. We believe that girls’ education will be key to advancing world peace.
How we do it
Femworking partners with the International Rescue Committee to support girls’ access to education. When a Femworking member purchases a year of membership, a year of tuition is donated for a girl in need.
Benefits of educating girls
1 additional school year can increase a girls earnings by 10-20%. 4
Girls with secondary schooling are 3x less likely to marry as children compared to girls who have little or no education. 5
A child of a mother who can read is 50% more likely to live past age 5.6
12.2 Million children could avoid becoming stunted if their mothers had a secondary education.7
A 25% increase in agricultural output is possible by investing in girls education in Sub-Saharan Africa.8
35% Higher GDP per capita is associated with each additional year of education.9
In 2016, we gave our first modest donation to support a young girl’s education in Kenya. We can’t wait to increase our giving in 2017!
